Possible Reasons for Increase in Energy Usage
A large part of this process is to make sure that the existing building controls are working properly and efficiently, as well as educating building users on how the building systems function, and how to use them to their best ability.
  • Automatic CO2 fans set to On, rather than Automatic
  • Building unoccupied mode set later than necessary
  • Fluorescent lights vs. LED
  • Building switches between heating and cooling during shoulder seasons
  • Misuse of building thermostats
    • Large possible range of temperatures
    • Thermostats always on
  • Unnecessary office appliances
    • Mini-fridges
    • Personal desk lamps
